Yesterday on Helvellynโ€ฆ a proper day in the mountains โ„๏ธ
We set out with a plan, but the fells had other ideas. Bitter wind, a wind chill down to -11, and snow flurries building into near whiteout at times made it a tough one. Even so, the views from the โ€˜Hole in the Wallโ€™ with Helvellyn covered in snow were something else.
With conditions turning, we made the call to switch to Plan B and drop down into Grisedale Valley, the right decision on a day like that.
Not every hike is about the summit, sometimes itโ€™s about good judgement, teamwork, and looking after each other.
And yesโ€ฆ the pub at the end was well and truly earned ๐Ÿป
