Y Garn Guided Hike via Devil’s Kitchen – Sunday 26th April 2026

Y Garn Guided Hike via Devil’s Kitchen, A Beautiful Day in Eryri (Snowdonia)

After yesterday’s big mountain adventure, today was all about slowing the pace. A shorter, steadier walk was exactly what we needed.

Our guided hike followed the famous Devil’s Kitchen route to the summit of Y Garn. Steve J, Suzanne and Elaine enjoyed a relaxed day in the mountains, taking time to appreciate every view along the way.

Devil’s Kitchen is one of the most iconic walking routes in Eryri (Snowdonia). The steep rocky gully climbs above the beautiful waters of Cwm Idwal, one of the UK’s finest glacial landscapes. Towering cliffs surround the lake, creating a dramatic setting that never fails to impress.

The weather could not have been better. Blue skies and warm sunshine revealed fantastic views across the Glyderau. It was the perfect day to enjoy one of the best mountain walks in North Wales.

A huge thank you to Steve J, Suzanne and Elaine for making it another brilliant day on the hill. Special thanks also go to Abbie for once again stepping in with first aid support and helping to keep everyone comfortable and smiling.

Every mountain day doesn’t have to be about chasing huge distances or big summits. Sometimes the greatest adventures come from slowing down, enjoying the scenery and sharing the experience with good people.

If you’re looking for a guided hike in Snowdonia, or you’d like to experience Y Garn, Devil’s Kitchen or Cwm Idwal, we’d love to have you join us. Hiking Adventures UK offers guided walks across Eryri, the Lake District and other spectacular mountain areas throughout the UK.

Ullswater Way Challenge Completed – Saturday 18th April 2026

Ullswater Way Challenge Completed – 20 Mile Guided Hike Around Ullswater

Today’s guided hike took us on the full 20 mile Ullswater Way, one of the Lake District’s most scenic long distance walking routes. As expected, the weather kept us on our toes with a real mix of conditions, including rain, strong winds, bright sunshine and then more rain. It’s all part of hiking in the Lake District!

Despite the ever changing weather, the group completed the entire Ullswater Way and also added a Wainwright to the day by reaching the summit of Gowbarrow Fell, rewarding everyone with fantastic views whenever the clouds lifted.

A huge congratulations to Morag, Steve, Tom, Chontelle, Dawn, Lisa and Emily, who all completed the challenge with determination, plenty of smiles and a great sense of humour throughout the day. Everyone put in a fantastic effort and thoroughly deserved their achievement.

The Ullswater Way remains one of the best circular walking routes in the Lake District, combining beautiful lakeshore paths, woodland trails, open fell walking and stunning panoramic views. If you’re looking to experience one of the region’s finest long distance walks with the confidence of a qualified guide, keep an eye on our upcoming guided hiking events.

Yesterday on Helvellyn… a proper day in the mountains ❄️
We set out with a plan, but the fells had other ideas. Bitter wind, a wind chill down to -11, and snow flurries building into near whiteout at times made it a tough one. Even so, the views from the ‘Hole in the Wall’ with Helvellyn covered in snow were something else.
With conditions turning, we made the call to switch to Plan B and drop down into Grisedale Valley, the right decision on a day like that.
Not every hike is about the summit, sometimes it’s about good judgement, teamwork, and looking after each other.
And yes… the pub at the end was well and truly earned 🍻

Sunrise magic on Scafell Pike this morning 🌄✨
An unforgettable climb under a sky full of stars, leading us right into a stunning sunrise. Absolutely epic from start to finish! We made the most of the gorgeous sunshine and even added Lingmell on the way down to top it all off.
Huge congratulations to an incredible group, Charan, Elaine, Suzanne, Deeann, Aravind, Faheema, Steve, Jarvo, Kev & Angela for successfully summiting England’s highest mountain at 978m 💪⛰️
And a big thank you to Abbie for the continued support throughout 🙌
So many photos to share from this one… see below! 📸

An easier day on the fells today, taking in Baystones & Wansfell from Ambleside. Sometimes it’s nice to slow the pace a little and just enjoy being out there.
We were treated to a cracking morning, blue skies, hardly a breath of wind and sunshine strong enough that we were hiking in T-shirts… in March!
Not something you can always say in the Lake District.
Great views over Windermere and the surrounding fells, and a reminder that you don’t always need the biggest mountains for a brilliant day.

What a day out on the fells!
Helm Crag, Gibson Knott, Calf Crag & Steel Fell all in one cracking round. And what a belter it turned out to be.
We kicked things off up Helm Crag, standing proudly above Grasmere with the famous Lion & the Lamb rock formation. It’s one of those summits that never gets old, no matter how many times you go up!
The mighty Howitzer on Helm Crag stood there looking sharp, today it was in perfect condition, dry rock, hardly a breath of wind. We both climbed it and conquered it!
A brilliant little scramble and one of the most unique summit features in the Lakes.
Disclaimer: Climbing the Howitzer is completely optional. Please don’t attempt it unless you have scrambling experience and feel confident on exposed rock.
From there we made our way across to Gibson Knott and on to Calf Crag & Steel Fell soaking up winter sunshine. Proper blue skies & big views.
Now… let’s talk about the “boggy interlude” between Calf Crag and Steel Fell.
I’m fairly certain wellies would’ve been the preferred footwear choice at one stage. It was less “fell walking” and more “strategic peat avoidance with occasional sinking”. Character building, we’ll call it.
All in all, an amazing day. Sunshine, laughter, a proper summit scramble, a bit of wind to keep us honest and enough bog to keep the stories flowing.
Absolutely class day!

First day of a few days holiday in the Lakes, we were out today on Pike of Blisco and Crinkle Crags, and what a day to be out in the fells.
Big blue skies, barely a breath of wind, and wall-to-wall sunshine lighting up the Langdales.
A crisp, clear day where every ridge feels sharper, every view stretches that bit further, and you can’t help but stop and just take it all in.
What a day to be alive!

Out with a small group of regulars today on Place Fell in the Lake District ⛰️
Great company as always, we somehow managed to almost dodge the showers and kept out of the worst of the wind too 💦🌪️
Not a bad effort for a Lakes day!
