Scafell via Lords Rake Guided Hike& West Wall Traverse
Take on England’s Second Highest Mountain
Looking for one of the most exciting guided hikes in the Lake District? Join us for an unforgettable adventure to the summit of Scafell (964m), England’s second highest mountain, via the famous Lords Rake and West Wall Traverse.
This is far more than a walk to the summit. It’s a true mountain adventure that combines dramatic scenery, fascinating mountain history and exciting terrain. Along the way you’ll also summit Slight Side, giving you two Wainwrights in one incredible day.
Our route follows one of the Lake District’s most legendary mountain lines. First, we’ll make our way towards the imposing cliffs of Scafell. Then, we’ll climb the famous Lords Rake, a steep natural gully surrounded by towering rock faces that has become one of the most iconic routes in the National Park.
From here we’ll continue across the spectacular West Wall Traverse, a narrow mountain path that hugs the side of Scafell’s impressive western cliffs. While the terrain requires care and a good head for heights, it rewards you with breathtaking views and an unforgettable sense of adventure.
Finally, we’ll reach the summit of Scafell, where panoramic views stretch across the Lake District National Park. From England’s second highest mountain you’ll enjoy incredible views towards Scafell Pike, Great Gable, the Langdale Pikes, Wasdale and beyond.
Before returning, we’ll also visit the summit of Slight Side, a quieter Wainwright that offers stunning views across the Duddon Valley and the western fells.
