Discover One of the Lake District’s Best Kept Secrets
Escape the crowds and experience one of the Lake District’s most spectacular mountain adventures on our Mosedale Horseshoe Guided Hike. This unforgettable circular walk takes in four magnificent Wainwrights, Pillar, Steeple, Scoat Fell and Red Pike, offering dramatic scenery, quiet mountain paths and breathtaking views from start to finish.
Often overlooked in favour of the more popular fells, the Mosedale Horseshoe is a true hidden gem. Towering above the remote valley of Mosedale, this route showcases everything that makes the Western Fells so special. Expect rugged ridges, sweeping panoramas and a real sense of adventure in one of the quietest corners of the Lake District National Park.
Whether you’re collecting Wainwrights, training for bigger mountain days or simply looking for an unforgettable guided hike, this is a route you’ll want to experience.
An Incredible Journey Through the Western Fells
First, we’ll begin our climb towards the impressive summit of Pillar (892m). Pillar is famous for its dramatic shape, rugged scenery and incredible views across the Western Fells.
Next, we’ll continue to Steeple, one of the Lake District’s most striking summits. Although smaller than its neighbours, Steeple offers one of the finest viewpoints in the National Park, with spectacular views towards Ennerdale and the Irish Sea on a clear day.
Then, we’ll continue to Scoat Fell, another impressive Wainwright with magnificent views towards Great Gable, Scafell Pike, Haystacks and the High Stile range.
Finally, we’ll reach Red Pike, completing our fourth Wainwright of the day. Before descending, take a moment to soak in the incredible scenery that surrounds you. This is mountain walking at its very best.
